CHEE22
C++
PSSL
PS5CHEE22 is a chess-inspired PS5 game with a unique twist, influenced by the simplicity and creativity of Balatro. The game reimagines the classic mechanics of chess, focusing on a smaller scope to achieve a higher level of polish. It was developed from scratch by a team of five programmers: Jorge Alemany, Jaime Garrido, Juan Avilés, Nacho Avilés, and myself, in collaboration with designer Duncan Cummings.
I contributed to the custom engine development and implemented the post-processing system, the UI framework, and the state manager that controls the flow from menus to gameplay. This was my first time working with a PS5 development kit, and I used the opportunity to deepen my understanding of graphics APIs and console development.
