A game built together

Wanted: Yokai Uprising is a first-person shooter developed during my final year at ESAT, from September 2023 to July 2024. Our 16-person team brought together seven artists, seven programmers, and two designers. We worked with Agile (Scrum) and took the game through to its release on Steam, with sound and music created in collaboration with Berklee College of Music.

My contributions

  • Implemented the main character’s behaviors and controls, including weapons and combat mechanics.
  • Developed an event-driven mission system to guide players through objectives.
  • Implemented sound event colliders to manage music transitions between scenarios.
  • Contributed to multiplayer functionality, using Unreal’s Remote Procedure Calls to support the gameplay features I developed.
  • Built these systems in C++ and Blueprint, working with Perforce and Git.

Working toward a shared release

The project connected day-to-day gameplay implementation with the demands of a full production. Weekly meetings and a shared workflow helped us coordinate across programming, art, and design throughout development.
